Does this sound like something you've caught yourself saying? Are you curious about how YOU, of all people, can attract something negative?

Why Did I Attract That?
by Michael Losier
Does this sound like something you've caught yourself saying? Are you curious about how YOU, of all people, can attract something negative?
Sometimes it's obvious why you are attracting negative things. In many cases it's because you've been talking about what you don't want. Or you've been listening to someone else as they talk about what they don't want. As you've heard me say over and over again, "Whatever you give your attention, energy and focus to, you'll get more of!"
Yet there are still many of you who put your hands on your hips and say, "I didn't want that! I didn't want it so how could I have possibly give it attention. I didn't talk about it, so how could I possibly attract it?" Well there's another reason! If you haven't been talking about it, you've been unintentionally observing it. Observing what you DON'T like or DON'T want causes you to attract more of it. That's right! Just observing it.
Observing what you DON'T like
or DON'T want causes you to attract more of it.
Remember, as you observe anything, you are giving it attention, energy and focus. What are you paying attention to that you DON'T want to attract?
* The real estate market that everyone is complaining about?
*The negative stock market reports that the media constantly repeats 24/7.
*Health problems your friends share with you.
* All the details about a bad relationship one of your friends is experiencing?

It's time to mind your own vibration and start deliberately giving your attention, energy and focus to what you DO want. In your observation of anything positive or negative, you offer or send out a matching negative or matching positive vibration. And, most of you know, the Law of Attraction does not know whether what you are attracting is something you want or desire. It constantly unfolds and orchestrates whatever needs to happen to bring you more of the same vibration you are sending out.
Start today to become more conscious, cautious and deliberate about what you are observing.
What can you do today to deliberately observe only what you want more of?
Here are my suggestions:
* Observe couples who are romantic and enjoying each others company.
* In business, keep the file folders of your ideal clients nearby so you can observe them regularly. Do the same with positive sales reports! Observe them more often!
* Watch happy TV only! For those of you that have a copy of my book, Law of * Attraction, revisit page 18 to remind yourself of the Observation Cycle.

Mastering The Art Of Aloneness

Americans now spend half of their adult lives outside of marriage, and fewer than half of all households consist of married couples. These are major shifts that have been brewing for decades, yet people's attitudes about being alone have changed remarkably little during those years.
Aloneness is still associated with a variety of negative emotions. At the start of the Mastering the Art of Aloneness workshop, I ask participants what they think of when they hear the word "aloneness." I hear the same responses over and over. "Lonely." "Unwanted." "Afraid." It's no surprise that people think of aloneness as a negative state to avoid rather than embrace. From early childhood, we're conditioned to associate aloneness as something to pity, fear, or feel ashamed of.
Mastering the art of aloneness doesn't mean foregoing the love and support of others. It means living a life in which you feel whole and happy; a life in which you can take care of yourself emotionally and financially. It involves reframing aloneness as an opportunity to develop the self-awareness, life skills, and emotional intelligence needed to live a full, gratifying life—whether you're living it alone or with someone else.
As you embrace your aloneness and engage in new behaviors, you will create new results in every aspect of your life. Below are a few of many action steps you can take to strengthen your relationship with yourself and use the state of "aloneness" as an opportunity to develop greater self esteem, personal fulfillment, and financial security.
Learn about and develop who you are: Imagine what life would be like if we all put as much energy into developing a healthy and loving relationship with ourselves as we do in our relationships with others. Personal development work (coaching, workshops, therapy, etc.) allows you to better understand your strengths and passions, the influences that have shaped who you've become, and to live your life by deliberation versus by default.
* Develop an inner support system: Deploy stress-reducing strategies such as getting enough sleep and exercise, meditating, scheduling leisure activities, extending compassion to yourself through supportive "self talk" ("great job!", "you're magnificent!", etc.), and by maintaining a diet that supports your physical and emotional well-being.
* Develop an outer support system: Build friendships with people who support who you really are, and utilize external resources to help you achieve your greatest potential (a holistic physician, nutritionist, fitness trainer, life coach, etc.).
* Take financial control: Make a list of your monthly expenses and income. If you're living beyond your means, you either need to alter your lifestyle or develop an action plan for earning the money you need to support it.
* Do work that you love and at which you excel: The smaller the gap between who you are in your personal life and who you are at work, the happier you will be. Doing work that's aligned with your strengths and passions makes going to work a joy, versus a daily source of frustration.
* Create and live your ideal life: Write the book you always wanted to write, buy and create the home of your dreams, open your own business, interview for your dream job. Instead of waiting for someone else to provide the life conditions to which you aspire, identify and act upon the steps needed to bring them to fruition.

Jennifer Hudson: A Woman Of Courage & Heart
Filed under: David Otunga, Jennifer Hudson, licious, National Anthem, Super Bowl, The New Licious Author: LiciousThe Presidential Inaugural Speech
Filed under: Art by Lottie, Barack Obama, Inaugration 2009, licious, The New Licious Author: LiciousMy fellow citizens:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.
So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.
That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.
These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land - a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.
Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America - they will be met.
On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things.
The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.
In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted - for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things - some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.
For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life. For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn. Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.
This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions - that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.
For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act - not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. And all this we will do.
Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions - who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.
What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them - that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works - whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account - to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day - because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.
Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control - and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous.
The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our Gross Domestic Product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart - not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.
As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake.
And so to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more. Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort - even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.
For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus - and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.
To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West - know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.
To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.
As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us today, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment - a moment that will define a generation - it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.
For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.
Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends - hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism - these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility - a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.
This is the price and the promise of citizenship.
This is the source of our confidence - the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.
This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed - why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.
So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:
"Let it be told to the future world...that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]."
America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

My Inaugural Ah-Ha Moment...
Filed under: Change, Inaugration 2009, licious, Life, The New Licious Author: LiciousTonight I was watching today's episode of Oprah on my DVR, enjoying all of the Inaugural festivities when I had an Ah-Ha moment. Usher was describing his involvment in a charity event. He said the following quote:
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle
That quote stabbed me right in the center of my heart and spirit. So, I took some time to reflect on things I do repeatedly and then asked myself, "Who Am I?".
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle
That quote stabbed me right in the center of my heart and spirit. So, I took some time to reflect on things I do repeatedly and then asked myself, "Who Am I?".
I am a liar.
I am a quitter.
I am a failure.
I am a coward.
I am lazy.
I am selfish.
I am an over-eater.
I am a gossip.
I am unreliable.
I am a woman who lacks integrity.
I am sleep walking through my life.
I am an enabler.
All of these realizations caused me to cry. That quote broke me wide open. In the spirit of the changes I'm trying to make in my life, I then took a moment to forgive myself and to ask, "Who do I want to be?"
I want to be honest, even when it's hard or inconvienant.
I want to start something and finish it.
I want to SUCCEED in all aspects of my life.
I want to live with the mentality that God has not given me a spirit of fear but of PEACE and a sound mind.
I want to become active.
I want to GIVE for the pleasure and love of giving, not to receive something in return. I want to be an UNCONDITIONAL GIVER.
I want to deal with my problems, fears, & issues instead of numbing them with food.
I want to speak words of LIFE and not death.
I want my friends and family to be able to depend on me ALWAYS, even when I don't feel good.
I want to be a woman of INTEGRITY.
I want to be AWAKE and CONSCIOUSLY living my BEST LIFE EVERY DAY.
I want to allow the people I love to make their own mistakes and I want to be able to put myself ahead of my need to fix others.

Thank You, Holy Spirit, for the revelation you blessed me with tonight. I WILL focus on who I want to be and not who I WAS from this moment forward. I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.

I URGE you all to watch "Very Young Girls" on Showtime. It is a documentary about a woman named Rachel Lloyd and the program that she started called G.E.M.S. The program helps young women who have been victims of sexual trafficking, prostitution, & sexual exploitation. Here is a brief synopsis of what the movie entails:
"Very Young Girls is an expose of human trafficking that follows thirteen and fourteen year old American girls as they are seduced, abused, and sold on New York’s streets by pimps, and treated as adult criminals by police. The film follows the barely-adolescent girls in real time, using vérité and intimate interviews with them as they are first lured on to the streets and the dire events which follow. The film also uses startling footage shot by the brazen pimps themselves giving a rare glimpse into how the cycle of street life begins for many women. The film identifies hope for these girls in the organization GEMS (Girls Education and Mentoring Services), a recovery center founded and run by Rachel Lloyd, herself a survivor of sexual exploitation. She and her staff are heroic and relentless in their mission to help girls sent by the court or found on the street. Given a chance to piece their lives back together, some will succeed, but many will remain suspended on the edge of two different worlds consistently battling the force that will suck them back into the underground. Very Young Girls’ unprecedented access to girls and pimps will change the way law enforcement, the media, and society as a whole look at sexual exploitation, street prostitution and human trafficking that is happening right in our own backyard."
PLEASE visit their website, www.gems-girls.org/index.html, and find a way to help. I personally plan on donating money, wish list items thru Target, and finding a way to volunteer from California. I also plan on visiting their headquarters in April during my visit to New York. Do what you can to help. At the very least, please add the organization and the young women struggling to regain their lives to your daily prayer lists.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this e-mail.
Blessings to you all....

Everyone Keeps Asking: Where Is Mr. Wise?!
Filed under: I Love Money 2, licious, Mr. Wise, Solomon Wise, The New Licious, VH1 Author: Licious
HAPPY NEW YEAR, NEW LICIOUS READERS!!
I hope that the new year is being kind to you thus far!! I've been getting A LOT of e-mails asking the same question over and over:
WHERE IS MR. WISE?!?!?!
Fans noticed that Mr. Wise was absent from VH1's hit reality spin-off, I Love Money, but they kept hope alive, knowing that the serious was going to continue. Well, VH1 announced the cast of I Love Money 2, and Mr. Wise was noticeably missing from that cast as well. My inbox on every page and e-mail account I have, have been overloaded with e-mails from Mr. Wise's fans asking WHY he isn't appearing on any of the new VH1 shows.
The truth of the matter People, is that I a have no control over who VH1 casts on their shows, so e-mailing me about it won't help you. You'll have to send those requests to the casting directors and producers of the shows.
THANK YOU for all of the love you are sending Mr. Wise's way! I forward all e-mails to him and he appreciates you all. Hopefully you'll be seeing him back on the small screen again very soon!
*Until Next Time, LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE NOW!*

I am working on a lot of new projects for 2009, for my clients and myself as well. WiseOwlManagement.com is currently being designed by the one and only PB Creationz, and it will be up and running within the first couple weeks of January.
As far as my clients, Misfit Dior has some really exciting projects coming up in the new year. She is the new face of B.U.M. Athletics clothing line and her face is featured in advertising in Times Square in New York, in Los Angeles, and throughout Europe and Asia. She is also finishing up her new album and working on the pilot for her new reality show.
Solomon Wise AKA Mr. Wise also has some hot things in the works. He will be releasing a book of his favorite poetry during the first quarter of 2009. He too is working on the pilot for a reality show and don't be surprised when you see him on your favorite t.v. shows and movies. He is also releasing his long awaited mix tape, also in the first quarter of the new year.
Expect to see some beautiful paintings and illustrations by Lottie Johnson from Art by Lottie. Her paintings are featured on Alicia Keys official website and you will be able to see her illustrations in a soon-to-be released children's book.
Also, make sure that you keep up with The Q over at Sheithirsty.blogspot.com. Her and all of the talented writers over there are sure to keep you informed and entertained all year long. Living The Wisdom of the Tao
Filed under: Change Your Thinking Change Your Life, Dr. Wayne Dyer, licious, Spiritual Enlightenment, Tao Te Ching, The New Licious Author: LiciousAs you all know, I LOVE to read and study different spiritual paths that allow me to open my mind and spirit more each day. I am a Christian, but I have also adopted many different ideals from other religions. One of the books I'm reading currently is entitled, "Living The Wisdom of the Tao", and it's written by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Here is what the liner notes say:
"Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses, which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of our existence. The classic text of these verses, called the Tao Te Ching or the Great Way, offers advice and guidance that is balanced, moral, spiritual, and always concerned with working for the good."
I am often criticized for honoring other religions. I am told on a constant basis that I "shouldn't read books that aren't Christian based." I used to live a very strict, religious life, where I was judgmental towards others based on their religious preferences or life-style choices. I have since walked away from that life and developed a RELATIONSHIP with God. Yes, I am a Christian and YES, I believe in Jesus Christ. However, I also believe that God created SEVERAL paths that lead directly to Him. So, I pray and meditate and read different books about various spiritual practices, along with my bible, and I am at peace more now than at any other point in my life. I praise The Most High for leading me to a spiritual path and relationship with Him. Without Him, I wouldn't be.
I know that there are people from different religious and spiritual backgrounds that read my blog, so I try to add material for everyone to enjoy. I also pray that the different spiritual materials that I share will inspire others to develop their own personal relationship with God. He goes by many different names: Buddha, Allah, Tao, etc. Whatever name you call Him, He is still GOD... The Most High. Honor and enjoy Him daily. I guarantee it will change your life. So, I will also be sharing a different verse from the Tao Te Ching here on TheNewLicious.com everyday. ENJOY!!

1st Verse:
The Tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named
is not the eternal name.
The Tao is both named and nameless.
As nameless it is the origin of all things;
as named it is the Mother of 10,000 things
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery;
ever desiring, one sees only the manifestations.
And the mystery itself is the doorway
to all understanding.
The Tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named
is not the eternal name.
The Tao is both named and nameless.
As nameless it is the origin of all things;
as named it is the Mother of 10,000 things
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery;
ever desiring, one sees only the manifestations.
And the mystery itself is the doorway
to all understanding.
Dr. Dyer explains his translation of the Tao after each verse. I'm not going to re-type all of it here. However, the basis of what it means is to:
1.)Enjoy the mystery. Let Go and let God.
2.) Practice letting go of always naming and labeling.
3.) Turn all of your attention to becoming open-minded, allowing permissiveness to befriend the mystery within yourself.
4.) Accept whatever comes

Today's Prayer for Your Best Life Now
Filed under: Daily Prayers, David Otunga, Jennifer Hudson, Joel Osteen, licious, The New Licious Author: LiciousGood afternoon, everyone!!
I hope that you woke up this morning happy, healthy, and blessed beyond belief. I am in the midst of trying to decide if I should share (publicly) the huge decision I've made for my life recently. Half of me wants to share it with you all as part of my journey in life and in the hope that it will help someone else. The other half of me wants to keep the decision and the process private. I haven't really decided one way or the other, but as soon as I do, I will most definetly let you guys know.
I also wanted to send a huge THANK YOU to all of the fans of Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga who sent me e-mails, letters, and cards of condolence. I forwarded all of that information to David and Jennifer and they send their gratitude and love back to you all. Please continue to keep them in your prayers daily.
I've decided to add a new segment to TheNewLicious.com called Your Best Life Now. I'm reading about 5 different books at the moment and one of them is Daily Readings from Your Best LIfe Now by Joel Osteen. I just started this book today. Its a 90 day, daily devotional that helps you to live your best life. At the end of each daily chapter, there is a prayer. I will be posting those daily prayers here on the website. I pray that they bless you and lift you up daily. My love to all of you!!

What's Goodie, Yall....
I'm in the middle of a fast right now and I've been doing a lot of thinking, praying, and meditating. For a long time, I've wanted to do something special for a small group of friends and family that stuck by me through the most tragic and difficult time of my life. Matter of fact, the majority of this group of people has been by my side through all of the good and bad times. Some of the people on this list have known me their whole life, some for 12 years, some for 20 years, and a few are new family who I've known for a year or two.
I've been wanting to do something special for these people for awhile now. I couldn't really think of anything that would show the depths of my love and gratitude for them. I thought maybe I'd have a small dinner party and speak to each of them individually, lettting them know what it is that they've done for me and have meant to me. But it would take a miracle from God to get all of them in the same place at the same time LOL!!!
Anyway, I've been listenng to the new Jennifer Hudson cd (GO BUY IT NOW! It's incredible!) and I heard this song entitled, "You Pulled Me Through". To my great embarrassment and shock, I started crying in the parking lot of the grocery store as soon as I started listening to it LOL. It said everything that I've wanted to say to these people but couldn't find the words ... until now. So this is going to be bit of a long blog, but below you will find the lyrics to the song and then a little something about each person right after the lyrics end.
*DISCLAIMER!* If you're name is not on the list, it does not mean I don't love and appreciate you...because I DO!
So, here it goes... Randy, Alicia, LaShaunn, Eve, Solomon, David (Abz), Misfit, Uncle Donnie, Sarah, The Alva Family, Genia, and Angelina, I dedicate this song to you. I love you all and am grateful that God saw fit to bless me with family like you.

I was out in the cold
Seemed nothing could heal this
this hole in my soul
You reached out your arms to me
Held out your heart to me
Pulled me back from the edge
Thought I reached the end.
When I was drowning
When I was so confused
you you You Pulled Me Through
I was in the shadows
lost, nothing left to lose.
You, you, you pulled me through.
You gave my faith back
faith was so hard to find
You gave me my life back
You were my lifeline
The love that you gave me
is love that has saved me
Your strength is what made me strong
I was in the darkness
I was out in the cold
Seemed nothing could heal this
this hole in my soul
You reached out your arms to me
Held out your heart to me
Pulled me back from the edge
Thought I reached the end.
When I was drowning
When I was so confused
you you You Pulled Me Through
I was in the shadows
lost, nothing left to lose.
you, you, you pulled me through.
Randall: When nobody else was there, you were. You wouldn't take no for an answer. When I hid from everyone, you came and found me every time. You were my link to Life. You saw me at my very worst and loved me anyway. I am so proud of the man you have become and I pray nothing but blessings for you in this life. I love you madly, Son. Cousn, YOU are MY hero now. X O X O
Alicia: What can I say man? I hurt you deeply, whether it was intentional or not, it was still hurt. I disappointed you and didn't allow you to be there for me during the worst part of my life. I walked away for all the wrong reasons. And you welcomed me back with open arms ... no questions asked. You have loved me despite all my faults and flaws. You put medicine on my wounds and helped put me back together. You taught me that I am capable of MORE, that I am beautiful, and that I am worthy. You continue, with patience, to show me that I AM your sister. I will always love and cherish you. My Sister, my Best Friend.
LaShaunn: WHEEEEW. I dont even know where to begin. When I was rockin those SUPER TIGHT acid wash jeans, thinking that they made me look like I had a butt like yours, you loved enough to say NO THEY DONT LOOOOL!! From the first day I met you, back when we were 15 and 16 years old, I've looked up to you and have always known that you were meant to be in my life. Last year when I was dying in every way a person can, and I was insisting on doing it alone, you said, "BITCH, don't make me get in my car and come and find you!! Cause when I DO find you, and I WILL, I am going to WHOOP YOUR ASS, and then bring you back to my house anyway!" LMAO!! You sat with me and hugged me when I was crying and funky. You prayed the death up off of me. You fought for me when I couldn't fight for myself. You have always been there... always been my strength in my weakness. You picked me up off the ground, dusted me off, and said "WE can do this. Now let's go." You have been a Sister to me in every way that counts. I love you beyond words, my Sister, my Best Friend.
Eve: You walked through the dirt and grime of my life and acted like it wasn't there. You kept my secrets of shame. You told me that I am capable of greatness and then gave me an opportunity to show that greatness. You always encourage me to be MORE. You have been my teacher in ways I cannot explain with words. You have helped to heal me and bring me back to life. You are my cheerleader, my Mentor, my friend, my family. You've sacrificed so that could have. You are amazing to me. You love me fiercely and protect me like a Mama Lion. I am so grateful for your presence in my life. I love you ALWAYS.
Solomon: You saw magic in me and stepped out on faith and allowed me to play a major role in your life. You trusted me with your secrets, problems, business, and life. You put it in my hands and said, "Run with it, Love." You showed me that perseverance through obstacles makes you a better person. You've shown me that there is beauty in struggle and that when you come out the other side of the fight, you are better for it. You shared your dream with me and made it my dream too. You inspire me to GREATNESS. You are not only my business partner but my friend... my brother. I love you and am SO proud of you. I believe in you and always will.
David: Abz, I was cleaning out my emails the other day, and I came across a whole bunch of emails from when we first met and I just had to smile! From the very beginning we were close. It was seemingly instant! I watch you and am blown away by the man that you are. When I was ready to give up, you believed in me and said I could do it. You constantly told me that I was talented and capable. You trusted me with your secrets and your career. And Im telling you, that there is NOTHING better in this world than when we would get on the phone and be gossiping and sharing stories LOL!!! You showed me kindness and friendship in a world that is full of fakeness and lies. You support me in everything that I do. I dont think Ive ever told you this before, but your belief in me is what made me stick to everything. Anytime I call you for advice, you're there to give it to me. Anytime I call you and ask you to donate your time and talent for some cause or another, you're answer is always, "Legz, you kno I'm down to do anything for you." You are a giving, honest, loving, and loyal man. You inspire me to be the best me I can be. I am SO sorry for the tremendous grief that you are going through right now. If I could take it from you and bare it for you, I would in an instant. I am praying for you day and night. I am honored to call you friend. Keep your head up. Im here anytime you need me.
Misfit: You are TRULY my Angel sent from God. From the moment we first spoke, we were tied at the hip. Our bond was instant! You have a heart made completely of LOVE. You inspire me to stay positive even through the worst of times. Your spirit shines brightly in this dark world. You share your life with me UNCONDITIONALLY! You trust me with your secrets, your career, your heart. You make an effort to include me every step of the way. You are my inspiration and my model of what TRUE friendship is. I am grateful for you EVERY DAY. I believe our adventure has just begun and the best is right around the corner. I LOVE YOU!!!
Uncle Donnie: From the minute you entered my life, you have loved me. ALL of me. When I showed up at your house earlier this year, you wrapped me in your arms and healed me with all of that love and encouragement. You have accepted me, not as your Niece, but as your Daughter and you healed someting inside of me because of that. You lift me up when I can't stand on my own. I love you more than you will ever know.
Sarah: My Cousin.... Cousin doesnt seem enough. You are my Angel. You were there during the worst of it. You loved me back to life. You send me texts that just say, "I LOVE YOU" and you have no idea what that does for me. You are incredibly loving and supportive and I couldn't ask for a better Cousin. When I had to give my Puppies up, you took them and gave them a home so that I wouldn't be worried. That meant more to me than I could ever say. During a time in my life when I was losing everything, you stepped up and did what you could to take anything off my plate that you could. I appreciate you and am SO proud of the wife and mother you are. I love you madly.
The Alva Family: When you heard what was going on, you got in your car and drove down to make sure that I was okay. Steve, you showed me that there is no weakness in asking for help, there is only weakness is NOT asking for it. Youve been there for me since I was born... allowed me to be your sidekick LOL! Steve and Steph for life. Tracie, your sweet spirit and overwhelming love and acceptance amaze me. Thank you for trusting me as the God Mother of your children. It is the greatest gift I've ever recieved. To my God Children, Jasmine and Steve, Jr., thank you for your unconditional love. You love me whether Im "famous or regular" hahahah and I love you for that.
GNa-D: Thank you for your neverending support and love. Thank you for being concerned for my well being, not because Im "Licious" but because you are genuinely concerned for me. Your friendship is a blessing!!!
Last but certainly not least, Angelina: Thank you for teaching me the meaning of faith. You are amazing to me on more levels than one. Thank you for praying me through the worst of it and always believing the best for me. When I hid in my sickness, you waited patiently, leaving me voicemails just to say you loved me and missed me. All you want is ME and that humbles and inspires me. Thank you for trusting me as the God Mother to your 2 beautiful children. You gave me the opportunity to know what Motherhood is and for that, I am forever grateful. I love you!!
I hope that this blog will inspire you all to tell your loved ones how you feel. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Take the time to make sure that they know how you feel TODAY.
Blessings to all of you...

Rest In Love Hudson Family

He and his fiance, Jennifer Hudson, have suffered a great loss over the weekend. Jennifer's family was found slain, and her 7-year-old nephew was later found dead in the family's missing SUV. I just wanted to have a virtual moment of silence to memorialize and honor the family, and to send love, peace, and strength to Jennifer, David, and their families, as well as the King family.
I also wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all of you who have been sending me e-mails with your prayers and thoughts. I am in the process of mailing all of your cards and e-mails to the family this week. I know that they appreciate all of your prayers and support during this most difficult time.
Please feel free to leave your condolences, thoughts, prayers, or memorials to the family in the comment box.

Can Depression Be Prevented?
Filed under: Everyday Health, licious, Self Help Articles, The New Licious Author: LiciousI'm not sure I've ever shared this with you guys or not, but I have battled with depression for quite some time now. It's not something that I easily admit or share with people because I've viewed it as a badge of weakness, something to be ashamed of. I learned my lesson the hard way... it's NOT something to be ashamed of. We all go through it at some point in our lives. I read this article and thought it might help someone out there. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! It gets better... I PROMISE! Check this out....
Although depression is generally not a preventable condition, lifestyle can play a part in its progression. Making changes now can offer long-term benefits to your mental health. Here are some helpful hints that may assist you in keeping depression at bay.
1. Stay active: Not only is physical activity good for your physical health, but it can also improve depression, anxiety, and overall mood. And that doesn't mean that you have to run marathons — engaging in almost any type of physical activity for at least 30 minutes, three to five times a week, is enough to serve the purpose.
2. Stay connected: Maintaining a social life helps to keep the mind occupied and fulfilled. Social support is also important during life's many challenges, particularly as people age. Those who suffer from depression have the tendency to withdraw from friendships and relationships, causing loneliness and isolation. Taking steps to stay involved with the people in your life — and reaching out to meet new ones — can help to prevent this from happening.
3. Find an outlet: Sometimes the support of a friend or family member is not enough. Preventive therapy, whether you choose to see a therapist one-on-one, in a support group, or even via online counseling, can give you unbiased insight into your situation and help you through it. Similarly, finding an activity that you can enjoy without the help of others, such as yoga, journaling, or reading, can help to relieve stress and serve as a distraction.
4. Care for your physical health: Being in poor physical health can undoubtedly have a negative effect on your mental well-being. Getting adequate sleep, regular physical exams, and eating a healthful diet are important preventive steps for most health conditions, depression included.
5. Watch your alcohol intake: Although it's important for all people to moderate the amount of alcohol they drink, those prone to depression should pay special attention to their intake or consider avoiding alcohol entirely. Not only is alcohol a mood-altering depressant drug, but those at risk for depression are also at greater risk of alcohol abuse and developing alcoholism.
6. Plan ahead: Being prepared for life changes can help to create a sense of order and ease your mind about the uncertainties of the future. Though it is impossible to predict the outcome of every situation you encounter, planning how you will handle stress triggers, if they arise, will reduce anxiety and allow you to seek support should you need it.
